The southern Kentucky city of Bowling Green has reportedly emerged as a major hub for weight-loss drugs such as Ozempic, Wegoby and Maunjaro.
Bloomberg reported that at least 4% of people in and around Bowling Green were prescribed GLP-1 agonists in the past 12 months.
According to the media, the “conservative” figure is based on data from Purple Labs.

According to Bloomberg, 1% of Brooklyn and Miami residents have a prescription for weight-loss drugs.

According to the media, Kentucky’s overall weight loss drug prescription rate was 6.8 percent, higher than any other state in the U.S.
Alabama, West Virginia, Mississippi, and Georgia also reportedly are among the states with the highest concentrations of GLP-1 agonist prescriptions.

Bloomberg suggested factors such as Kentucky’s obesity rates and the availability of employer insurance coverage for weight-loss drugs could be contributing to Bowling Green’s high concentration of prescription drugs.
Approximately 75,000 people call Bowling Green home.
Eli Lilly raises earnings outlook as sales of Xepbound and Mounjaro grow
Across the city, pharmacies, medical spas and weight-loss clinics are benefiting from the demand for weight-loss drugs, according to Bloomberg.
Across the United States, more and more people are turning to drugs like Ozempic, Wegoby, Maunjaro and Zepbound to help them lose weight.

Novo Nordisk is the pharmaceutical company that makes Ozempic and Wegovi. Maunjaro and Zepbound, which are also becoming increasingly popular, are made by Eli Lilly.

Shares of the maker of Ozempic have risen about 42% over the past 12 months, giving it a market capitalization of $444.72 billion. Eli Lilly’s shares have also risen about 70% in the same period.
According to a KFF Health Tracking Poll released in May, 6% of American adults said they currently use GLP-1 agonists.
