San Antonio – The Harlandale ISD emailed a survey to parents and teachers this week, asking families if they would consider a three-day weekend for teachers and extending school days by a few minutes.
Harlandale ISD’s first grade teacher, Samantha Santos, loves her job. “I love being there for these kids,” she said.
But after working as a teacher for five years, Santos learned that it was difficult to juggle work and home life with his schedule.
“I don’t always have time to plan and take care of myself as effectively as I’d like,” she said.
Santos said he supports the possibility of changing the school calendar to a four-day week.

A spokesperson for the district said they are in the early stages of the proposal and that there will be many board meetings and votes before a final decision is made.
