The gym’s owner has set a goal of opening two more sites in the area this year, despite stiff competition from budget chains looking to enter Norfolk.
It’s been almost a year since NR Health and Fitness Club took over the former Fitness 2000 Gym in Great Yarmouth.
The location on Southtown Road is one of six NR gyms across Norfolk and Suffolk and the company is owned by Nathan Gosling.
But after the Yarmouth acquisition, a low-budget chain The gym group has since opened Rue Pasteur and the following month Pure Gym will open soon in the neighborhood.
Gostring said when the gym group reopened in October, the business lost about 10% of its members, so it was “hard”.
But despite that, NR Health and Fitness is “remaining unique,” and the 32-year-old is trying to reach out to more people to continue supporting small, independent gyms. .
Mattishall’s Gostling said:
“Eventually, they can close the gym. They really hurt the local independents.
“So at NR Health and Fitness, we are definitely adding value and quality to differentiate ourselves from these budget gyms.
“The opening of Jim Group shocked us.
So far this year, Southtown Road Gym has had brand-new functional areas installed, and Gostring said more renovations are planned throughout the year.
We’re also introducing new Les Mills Fitness classes starting February 1st.
Gostring added:
“And it shows that our members remain loyal to us. They understand the value of our service.
“There will also be more exciting changes.
“I just want to encourage people to support their local independent gyms in Great Yarmouth, including BWell, Iron Warehouse and Top Body Gyms.”
The gym owner said he also has a personal goal of opening two more gyms in Norfolk or Suffolk in 2023.
