Alex Padilla (D-Calif) and Bill Cassidy, Maryland (R-La.) have introduced bipartisan laws to improve digital health services by allowing patients to easily search and book online while protecting personal health information. Health that accelerates consumer care by promoting self-scheduling (access) behavior Increases patient access to modernized healthcare, protects patient personal health information, and ensures certainty for patients seeking digital health services.
“Every American deserves easy access to physical and mental health care.” Senator Padilla said. “As provider latency increases, integrating digital health programs into health care systems is essential to managing care efficiently. When scheduling obstacles fall into crisis, we cannot prevent people from receiving care when they are most needed.”
“It’s enough to just struggle with illness. Patients should have easy access to the care they need.” Dr. Cassidy said. “There are a lot of tools to provide affordable, quality care. As a doctor, I focus on using them.”
The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the demand for digital health services and other innovative practices. However, current law does not distinguish between illegal referral practices and scheduling services that reduce barriers associated with access to necessary and appropriate care.
