Although there are countless approaches to weight loss, and many end in failure, sustainable methods exist and can lead to long-term results.
Joshua Hilton from Wiltshire lost his eighth 12lb weight in just 12 months by creating a calorie deficit in his diet and prioritizing protein and vegetables at meals.

“I was sweating trying to fix my shoelaces and avoiding people at the supermarket,” he revealed. “Actually, I was so embarrassed that I hid behind a clothes rack.

Before embarking on his weight loss journey, Joshua was consuming at least one, sometimes two, takeaways a day, along with late night snacks and chocolates for breakfast.
“I was drinking three liters of full sugar cola a day,” Josh said. “I took a four-hour nap, but I feel really depressed.”
Becoming obsessed with food, Joshua found himself planning his meals far in advance. Even after eating a three-course dinner at a restaurant, he said, he sometimes buys more food on the way home.
But the turning point came on January 1, 2024, when Josh committed to sustainable lifestyle changes.
“I vowed to change myself, to lose weight, to be fitter, happier, healthier,” he said.
He achieved success by not banning any foods and by using a calorie-deficit approach.
“Just prioritize protein, fiber, fruits and vegetables. But if you want to have the cake, do it in moderation,” they explained.
Joshua’s physical changes first became apparent when he noticed a drastic change in his clothing size, dropping from a 2XXL to a size S. His waist size changed from 48 inches to 30 inches.
“My clothes used to be too big, but now I look forward to shopping. I feel more confident and healthier,” he said. “You can actually tie your shoelaces without breaking a sweat or gasping for breath.”

Following his success, Josh enrolled in a course to become a weight loss coach. He’s already inspired thousands on social media, with his TikTok page amassing 22,000 followers.
His weight loss content is particularly popular, garnering more than 1.2 million views in some cases.
“I’ve been an inspiration to people,” he said of turning his personal struggles into a platform to help others.
“My goals for 2025 are to maintain my weight, stay in shape and focus on the mental aftereffects of weight loss,” he said. “I want to try and succeed and stop it.”
