The National Health Service Organization (EOPYY) plans to allow patients to oversee their own medical costs and prescriptions from next year.
EOPYY Director Theano Carpodini announced that patients will now be able to access their prescriptions and services electronically and check that they have been issued correctly.
Starting in January, patients’ phone numbers will be linked in a new security system. A one-time passcode is sent for authorization for each prescription associated with a patient’s social security number (AMKA). In addition, patients can monitor their electronic medical files, reject fraudulent claims, and submit digital complaints about fraud.
Carpodini reported that in 2024, 33,000 complaints of excessive or illegal charges were filed and 23,000 were investigated. Future goals include leveraging digital transformation to improve the quality and accessibility of our services, allowing requests to be processed online in minutes.
By March, EOPYY plans to reach approximately 120,000 patients each month with medicines covering all health conditions. Patients apply for home delivery through an online platform. This change promises convenience and better care across the country.
