The life of High Court Justice Asenath Ongeri proves that faith, healthy eating and exercise are good medicine for most illnesses and lead to a better life.
The judge says in his book: Origin of a judge By changing her diet, exercising, and taking her faith seriously, she literally changed her life, cured her physical problems, changed her attitude toward work, and increased her productivity.
She wrote that her experience was based on her time working as a magistrate in the Kikuyu Law Court.
Her health and work productivity were poor, and she was lethargic in her faith.
She was waking up late, missing commitments, being late for court, and gaining weight due to careless eating habits.
“While working in the Kikuyu courts, I was not in good health. I became overweight and sickly. I had uterine fibroids, hemorrhoids, and goiter. “I regularly visited the goiter clinic at Kenyatta National Hospital, a facility, and took thyroxine,” Ongeri wrote.
As a result, she says, I had a bad attitude and a short temper. In such a situation, I could not get up early to report for duty on time or even pray.
“The general attitude in the judiciary has been that court begins when the judge or judge arrives…whatever that time is.”
“Courts rarely started at 9 a.m., the official time for court proceedings to begin.”
In fact, the judge said, she was so lazy that when she left for work in the morning, her husband would go and start the car and wait for her, but when he returned home, she would sneak back to bed and sleep. He wrote that he noticed that. .
A two-week seminar hosted by Ongeli’s church changed her life, but she was ready for a change.
It was a training for lay preachers, and she decided to take time off from work to attend and sign up.
“The first miracle in my personal transformation journey happened when I wrote a letter. [then] Chief Justice Bernard Chunga, whose colleague had just gone on vacation, allowed me to take two weeks off to attend a lay preacher training seminar. ”
“He allowed me to go to the seminar even though I had clear instructions. A substitute was sent from the Kiambu court to the Kikuyu court.”
She says the announcement suggested a seminar to train lay preachers, but the actual message turned out to be about lifestyle change.
“Although I knew in theory, I had never taken seriously the restrictive health messages taught in church, but during a seminar I decided to give it a try.”
At the time, Ongeri wrote, she was addicted to sugary sodas and fast food.
“I remember a restaurant I used to frequent in town before I converted. It sold fast food. The chicken was big and very tasty, and when you get close to the bone it almost feels like the chicken is raw. It looked like , but it was too sweet to throw away,” she wrote.
“I heard that some of the participants vowed to reduce their intake of sugar, carbonated drinks and related foods. I decided to eat everything and eat in moderation. It will be a great test of my resolve.”
Ongeri suffered from withdrawal symptoms and lost weight.
“Amazingly, all the tumors I had been nursing were gone. I knew about Newstart in theory and had been taught it, but in practice it worked. I had never practiced it.”
Newstart’s eight rules represent nutrition, exercise, water, sunlight, temperance, air, rest, and trust in God.
With the confidence she gained after the seminar, she cut down on extra work to ensure quality rest. She stopped eating junk food and practiced her faith, and everything changed for her.
“I also stopped teaching night classes at the National Institute of Technology and the Australian University Research Institute (which was my side job) and focused on my work. It was a complete transformation that incorporated both my diet and my values. ”
“The lesson I learned is that food is medicine. You are what you eat! The change was total and she was born again.
“It made me feel brand new…I suddenly became excited about my work. It was like new blood in my veins.”
“My energy levels skyrocketed and to this day, as long as I faithfully follow Newstart’s 8 rules for health, my energy levels have never waned.” “To start the day with devotion and focused prayer. I started waking up very early every morning and working hard on my assignments.”
Ongeri says she has become an advocate for healthy living.
“My transformational journey began when I started speaking, and it continues today because it takes time to create golden jewelry.”
Her husband initially ignored her efforts and continued her unhealthy eating habits. The judge wrote that it took a diagnosis of a serious illness to change his course.
“My husband accompanied me to various churches to tell my story, and when he got home he always brewed tea until it turned yellow. Today he saw the light. – but that’s after that [major ailment] diagnosis. In addition to this lifestyle change, he responded very well to treatment. ”
