Lumberton ISD launches mental health program for students

The school district is currently hiring 13 new positions to support the success of the BEAM program. Beam stands for Action, Excellence, Progress and Model.

Lumberton, Texas — Lumberton Independent School District Students will immediately benefit from new programs aimed at helping them succeed.

The district launched the BEAM program to help students with mental health and behavioral issues.

BEAM stands for Behavior, Excellence, Progress and Model.

The program includes a range of supports, from teaching aides to crisis counselors.

Superintendent of Education Dr. Tony Tipton says this kind of program is sorely needed.

“We’re adding them to our full range, so we have classroom aides and special education teachers. We plan to hire two crisis counselors and an additional diagnostician for testing,” Tipton said. said.

Sherry Reyes is a behavior analyst with a passion for helping children. She says this support is vital to their success.

“From the earliest learners to those nearing graduation, we can meet the needs of everyone,” said Reyes.

The school district hopes to attract top talent at Lumberton.

They are currently looking to hire 13 new positions, along with several other support staff roles currently posted. here.
