Many veterans are unaware of the many other benefits available to them, from financial counseling to career services.
Important reasons: Homelessness rates among veterans are higher than among the general public and 15 in 100 veterans have PTSD, but many are unaware that a safety net exists to support them .
- However, veterans are very happy with one of the biggest benefits of veteran health care.
By numbers: According to a new Ipsos poll80% of veterans rate their health care as good or very good.
- However, a whopping 63% say they don’t know how to evaluate the VA’s financial counseling services, and another 54% say they don’t know how to evaluate career services.
- About 50% of veterans say they don’t know how to evaluate veterans’ life insurance, and 33% say they don’t know about housing assistance.
Line spacing: This suggests that the majority of vets may be less aware of these additional benefits.

- 62% of veterans who say they know best about VA services all Benefit from the department. Only 41% of veterans said they were the least knowledgeable about the offering.
Big picture: Veterans appear to be highly satisfied with the benefits they receive, but a lack of awareness keeps them from accessing even more services that can make a big difference to their lives and lives. It may no longer be possible.
