A town that has been “crying out” for a new gym will finally be built in the new year.
Impact Gym will open in January 2025 at Orchard Business Center, Transfesa Road, Paddock Wood.
Jacob Wilkins and Daniel Baines, the people behind the initiative, say they want to fill a “market gap” in the growing town.
Following an investment of more than £100,000, the pair are currently designing the layout of the facility, with plans to divide it into four sections.
Aimed to “cater for all demographics”, it includes weights, cardio, martial arts and HYROX sections.
Jacob, a financial consultant at Tunbridge Wells, said:
“There is a lack of gym facilities in Paddock Wood and people have been asking for gym facilities for some time.”
In March, Kent Online reported that plans for a new sports hub were removed from the Paddock Wood Local Plan by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, much to the dismay of residents.
Since the announcement of Paddock Wood’s new gym, it has been flooded with positive comments from local residents on Facebook.
Co-founder Daniel, a full-time chartered accountant with the City of Maidstone, said: “We’ve been trying to build a gym that includes everyone, so we’ve split it up.
“We have tried to build it beyond our own needs and desires and consider the community.”
The new facility will be a short walk from Paddock Wood Station and will be open Monday to Friday from 6am to 9pm.
Open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
New members can join from £39.99 per month.
