Do you drink jeera water every morning for weight loss?
In a recent video on his Instagram page deeply_m3, fitness trainer Sunil Shetty listed out how to “lose 5 kg in 15 days without going on a strict diet.” But before we explain whether his jeera water and other weight loss tips actually work, let’s take a look at what he actually said.
In the video, Sunil shares the things you can do to lose 5 kg in 15 days and says, “Part 1: Drink jeera water every day when you wake up. Part 2: Always replace milk tea with milk coffee.” he said. Serve with cinnamon-scented tea. ”
She added: “Number 3: Make sure you have a fruit and vegetable salad before lunch and dinner every day. Number 4: Make sure you have apple, beet or carrot juice after every meal.”
In the caption, he also wrote, “Lose 3-10 kg of fat: Use cinnamon, lemon or ACV (apple cider vinegar) instead of jeera water.” Aim for 8,000 to 10,000 steps every day. Drink 3-4 liters of water every day. Eat healthy, unpackaged foods 90 percent of the time. ”
But do these weight loss tips actually work?
We spoke to Payal Kothari, nutritionist and author of The Gut, to get her take on Sunil’s dietary tips and whether they help you lose weight. she says: “These tips will definitely support weight loss as they will boost your metabolism, control your appetite, and reduce your calorie intake, respectively. However, in addition to this, if you do not follow a calorie deficit plan/diet, , it doesn’t work at all. All you get is gain, not weight loss.”
Below is a breakdown of Sunil’s weight loss tips and Payal’s take on them.
Jeera water when you wake up
◉ Benefits: Jeera is known for its pro-digestive and pro-metabolic properties, which promotes absorption of nutrients and reduces bloating.
◉ Weight loss benefits: Start your day with Jeera water to regulate digestion and stay hydrated, which is essential for metabolic health. However, while it may contribute to a slight increase in metabolism, it is not an independent weight loss method.
salad before lunch
◉ Benefits: Eating a fiber-rich salad before lunch will make you feel fuller, so you can eat less of your main meal. Choose low-calorie vegetables such as leafy greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers.
◉ Weight Loss Effect: This strategy reduces overall calorie intake by promoting satiety. Fiber in salads also aids in digestion and helps regulate blood sugar levels, supporting long-term weight management.
Apple, beet, and carrot (ABC) juice after lunch
◉ Benefits: Must be eaten not as a juice as it spikes blood sugar levels.
◉ Impact on weight loss: While nutritious, fruit-based juices can spike blood sugar levels, so be careful with portion sizes. Should be avoided.

remove milk from coffee or tea
◉ Benefits: Milk and sugar add calories and eliminate phlegm in the body, so switching to black coffee or black tea reduces your calorie intake. Black coffee also contains caffeine, which gently increases your metabolism and supports fat burning.
◉ Impact on weight loss: Reducing your calorie intake from beverages can lead to a calorie deficit, especially if you drink coffee or tea multiple times a day.
add cinnamon to water
◉ Benefits: Cinnamon is associated with improved blood sugar control, reduced appetite, and increased metabolism. Drinking cinnamon water throughout the day may reduce sugar cravings and stabilize your metabolism.
◉ Impact on weight loss: Drinking cinnamon-infused water regularly can help reduce blood sugar levels, which in turn may reduce hunger and overeating.
Overall weight loss with these dietary tips
According to Payal, none of these strategies alone will cause significant weight loss, but they can contribute to a healthier lifestyle that supports weight management. She says, “If you combine these tips with a balanced diet and regular exercise, you’ll get more substantial benefits. You can’t binge drink or eat extravagantly on cakes and cookies at night.”
