Saturday is the 27th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Colorado has dozens of locations for people who want to dispose of expired or unwanted medications.

“Getting these drugs out of the community and out of medicine cabinets and hidden drawers in the back of bathrooms actually helps protect the community because it reduces the potential for them to be misused. situation,” said Dr. Melissa Miller, Director of Pharmacy Services.

“Drugs Take Back Day” will be held on Saturday, October 26th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event provides people with an opportunity to dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medications rather than throwing them away or flushing them away.

“Twice a year across our department, DEA and partner agencies collect large quantities of unnecessary, unnecessary, or expired medications. We take steps to prevent potential drug misuse and We encourage people to remove these items from their homes because of the potential for Jonathan Pullen, Special Agent in Charge of the Rocky Mountain Field Division, said in a statement. “This event will help the public dispose of these prescription drugs in a safe and reliable manner.”

The National Take Back Event is held twice a year, on the last Saturday of April and October.

In April, law enforcement agencies helped recover 670,136 pounds (335 tons) of prescription drugs in Colorado, Utah, Montana and Wyoming, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration. That included 10,017 pounds in Colorado.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day has raised more than £18 million since its launch.

To find the nearest drop-off location, www.dea.gov/takebackday. The DEA is reminding people who can’t make it on Saturday to find online drop-off locations where they can receive their medications year-round.
