People looking to lose weight and burn fat should review their diet, lifestyle, and exercise habits to see what changes they can make.

Working out is a great way to burn off extra calories, and experts spoke to GB News about the benefits of high-intensity interval training (HIIT).


Certified personal trainer Jim Richard says these workouts consist of a short period of hard work (often 30 to 45 seconds) followed by a short rest period (often 15 to 30 seconds). He explained that he is focusing on

He says, “For rapid fat loss, I always recommend HIIT, which is a short burst of intense exercise followed by a short recovery period.

“HIIT pushes your body to its limits in a short period of time, forcing your body to work even harder to return to a resting state. The excess oxygen consumption post-exercise causes you to burn fat long after your workout is over.

“This workout has been shown to boost your metabolism for several hours after your workout. This is known as the ‘afterburn effect’ (EPOC effect).”

Improving your metabolism means your body burns fat faster, which is great for weight loss.

HIIT is an intense form of exercise that definitely gets your heart rate up, but it doesn’t last as long as other workouts, making it perfect for in between a busy routine.

Jim continues, “If you’re short on time, HIIT is the way to go. You can get a full-body workout in 20 to 30 minutes and still get significant fat loss results compared to traditional cardio.” ” he continued.

So how often should you do it? Experts say it’s best to aim for at least three to four HIIT sessions per week.

He recommended “alternating between exercises like sprints, burpees, and kettlebell swings.”

“It makes your body guess and maximizes your fat burning potential,” he added.

By doing cardio and using weights, people with a slim figure can tone their muscles while getting a full-body workout.

Of course, a good workout routine should be combined with a healthy diet for maximum results.

Jim said there are a variety of plans that can yield good results, including intermittent fasting and the paleo diet.

The Paleo diet requires you to eliminate processed foods from your lifestyle and replace them with all natural foods. Think “eat like your ancestors”.
