Chippewa Falls (WQOW) – Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District is at the forefront of exploring the benefits of chiropractic care for students in the classroom.
On-site chiropractic He first visited Chippewa Falls schools in 2016 to coordinate staff and then began serving students. Co-owner Dr. Amanda Blonigen says they are currently researching the benefits of chiropractic care for Chippewa Falls school students.
“We are currently writing research and have two papers about to be published showing the benefits we have seen over the past few years. We are also currently working on a pilot that we hope to run in schools in 2025-2026. We’re raising money for research.”This is the year we can really show what chiropractic does to the brain,” Blonigen said.
So far, Blonigen said he has heard that students are better able to concentrate in class and have fewer physical complaints since receiving care. Her company works with parents, and if a parent gives permission for a student to receive care, the on-site chiropractor will contact the parent’s insurance.
Special education teacher Katie Simonson praised the services in the special needs classroom.
“She’s really good at working with autistic kids who don’t want to be touched, and she’s a great resource and will work with the kids until they’re ready to adjust and feel comfortable. So, that’s what happens. “That’s another big plus, being someone who can ‘work with children with special needs,'” Simonson said.
Since beginning in Chippewa Falls, on-site chiropractic has expanded to the Osseo-Fairchild School District. Blonigen said she also helped start chiropractic programs in the Stanley Boyd area and Fall Creek school district.
