MISSOULA — The Missoula Advocacy Center is making great strides to provide new services to adults and children affected by abuse and sexual violence.

First Step, part of Providence St. Patrick Hospital, works with law enforcement and advocacy groups to provide medical and mental health care to victims of abuse.
The center aims to provide survivors with a gentler alternative to the emergency room, with nurses available 24/7 to provide free medical evaluations and counseling and referral options. Masu.
This expansion gives First Steps more room to allow social workers to continue therapy with clients over time without having to return to the exam room with bad memories.
“So, first they come in, get a medical exam, and maybe an interview, all in the same space,” said Mary Pat Hansen, First Step clinical supervisor. spoke. “And now we can work with our clinicians to do their ongoing healing work individually in a very specifically designed space that allows for healing and quiet focused energy.”
The additional space will allow First Step to offer more services, expanding care options for child victims. The new office underscores First Step’s mission to support survivors and reduce trauma by creating a healing environment.
