LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Henry County EMS officials have issued a public health alert to families after multiple children in Henry County experienced adverse reactions to a certain high blood pressure/ADHD medication.
The good news is that all children who experienced side effects are expected to recover.
According to Lt. TJ Bosser with Henry County EMS, all of the children who reacted were prescribed clonidine oral suspension, which was compounded at MedSave in Eminence, Ky. Bosser said families should not give their children the clonidine oral suspension compounded there.
Vautour believes the shipment of medicines was “faulty” and has identified its source. Vautour told WAVE News he believes the problem was identified by Monday morning.
Henry County EMS said the children were experiencing symptoms including “unconscious/unresponsive, unexplained crying, slow heart rate, slow respiratory rate and constricted pupils.”
Vautour said “several” children had experienced side effects from the drug, but said he could not provide information about how many or what symptoms they had because the situation involved sensitive medical information.
