Puberty blockers temporary ban extended

by Universalwellnesssystems

The Government today renewed a temporary ban on the sale and supply of puberty-blocking hormones, known as “puberty blockers”.

The continuing ban applies to the sale or supply of these drugs, prescribed by a private prescriber registered in England for the treatment of gender incongruity or gender dysphoria, to anyone under the age of 18 who is not already taking them.

It also prohibits the sale or supply of medicinal products to persons under the age of 18 for any purpose by prescribers registered in the European Economic Area or Switzerland.

The government has also extended the order to Northern Ireland, following an agreement with the Northern Ireland government, which will come into effect from 27 August.
