“We’re going to end the filibuster. We have the votes in Roe v. Wade to do that,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said on ABC’s “The View.”

She said Democrats would control the White House and Both Houses of Parliament “The first vote, the first substantive vote, that Democrats will have in the Senate in 2025 will be to make Roe v. Wade the law of America again.”

Warren reiterated, Ending the filibuster Overcoming a conservative-majority Supreme Court and protecting not only abortion but same-sex marriage, contraception, and other rights.

If we abolish the filibuster, 60 vote threshold And it would allow the Senate’s Democratic majority to more easily get the bill to President Biden’s desk.

Democrats currently barely control the Senate, but there is not enough support for such a move. Opposition Sens. Joe Manchin (I-Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.), neither of whom are seeking reelection, are Democrats. An uphill battle Win enough seats to maintain a majority.

“It’s pretty clear that to make Roe v. Wade the law of the land, we need a majority, a slim majority, in the House of Representatives. If we can get a slim majority in the Senate, I don’t mind 50 seats. And we have a Democrat in the White House. Once we have those three things, we’ll end the filibuster,” Warren said.

Biden promised to make Roe v. Wade “the law of the land” in his State of the Union address in March, but he is also fighting back against calls from dozens of Democrats for him to opt out of the 2024 presidential race.
