Man killed after pointing gun at Fort Worth police officer

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Officers shot dead a 29-year-old man who pointed a handgun at him after police answered a call from the man’s mother, Fort Worth Police said. hammer.

The Tarrant County coroner’s office has identified the man who was killed early Sunday morning as Taylor Grimes.

Fort Worth Police say the man was heard saying when his mother called 911 late Saturday that he would hurt her if officers answered. Police said that when officers arrived, Grimes came to the door with a handgun, closed it, and refused to leave the house.

SWAT forces and hostage negotiators then arrived and tried to persuade Grimes to surrender and allow his mother to leave the house, police said.
