Pakistan’s top batsman Fakhar Zaman has appreciated the bravery and hard work of young wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan during his recently concluded fitness camp in Kakul.
29 cricketers participated in a pre-season camp from March 26 to April 6 at the historic and iconic Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, organized by Pakistan Army experts and strategists. Training and drills were conducted.
During the camp, emphasis was placed on team building with the aim of strengthening the players’ physical and mental strength and keeping them in top condition to face the challenges ahead.
Under the guidance of experienced trainers and coaches, the players underwent a comprehensive training regime tailored to improve their fitness levels, agility, leadership, strategic thinking and overall performance on the field. .
Despite being criticized for fitness issues in the past, Azam Khan’s consistent hard work during fitness camps has brought him to the forefront.
Fakhar Zaman praised the explosive wicketkeeper in an interview on the official YouTube channel of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

“What impressed me most was what Azam Khan achieved. We did not expect him to undergo such intense training and naturally his physique allows him to I never expected to take on such a challenge,” Zaman said.
“Nevertheless, the way he tried, climbing mountains while we were hiking, we couldn’t believe he would reach the top. All of us If you show that kind of courage, it can be very beneficial.”
Zaman also recalled his experience of undergoing a rigorous fitness regime while fasting during the holy month of Ramadan in Kakul.
“When I came here in 2018, it was quite difficult, but this time it was not so difficult because of the holy month of Ramadan,” Zaman said.
“The training we have here is tough, but since it was during Ramadan, they paid close attention to us and made the workload a little easier.
“When the fitness is good, the results are good too. Our aim here was to build team bonding and it worked well. The training sessions have been great both on and off. Yes, and of course we will benefit from that,” he added.
Notably, both Fakhar Zaman and Azam Khan are part of Pakistan’s squad for the five-match home T20I series against New Zealand starting April 18.
