As an Enterprise Architect Business Consultant, Martin has spent over 20 years working with leading companies, supporting large-scale transformations, from multi-million pound product launches to major asset transfers.
But the 44-year-old shocked those around him when he decided to return to his studies, taking up an apprenticeship to become a personal trainer and online health and fitness coach.
Martin, who lives in York, rang the alarm, made a change and lost 40kg in over a year. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, he lost 97 percent of his customers and income overnight, but rather than panic about his future, he used this as an opportunity to overhaul his life. I thought so.

Martin, now 48, recalls: “I took a lot of exams and qualifications, but it wasn’t about getting six-pack abs, it was about being happy and helping other people be happy. I still do business consulting. I enjoy it, but it’s not my passion or what makes me shine. What really makes me happy is hearing from my clients who are now able to play with their children without being out of breath.”
Martin currently runs his own health and fitness business, Sharp Fit for Life, which helps busy professionals live happier, healthier lives. He believes that many executives and people in senior positions in companies struggle to maintain health and fitness due to high-pressure lifestyles that include long working hours and travel.
This is something Martin discovered for himself when his lifestyle as a business consultant saw him gaining weight, his joints aching and his heart racing. Wanting to avoid the health problems that plagued his family, such as cancer, diabetes, and fibromyalgia, he began his own journey to become healthier.
But it took me five years of trying everything from weight loss groups and fitness classes to fat-burning coffee and karate before I found a solution that actually worked for my lifestyle. The turning point came when he was introduced to his coach online at a speaker event in Kent. The coach then created a program tailored to his personal needs.
Martin is currently launching a new online program aimed at helping people use the skills they have developed throughout their careers to prioritize their health and well-being and improve performance in all areas of their lives. is.
