Hey, Pizza Face!
Bad news for New Yorkers — we really teeth What we eat, say scientists.
new research Researchers from baguette-loving France, another carbohydrate capital, have found that eating foods high in refined carbohydrates makes people of the opposite sex perceive a person’s face to be less attractive.
The tantalizing study, published in the journal ProSwan, invited 104 straight men and women to test their paper over breakfast.
Some participants ate a high-carbohydrate menu, while others were offered a low-glycemic alternative.
Two hours after the meal, photographs of the subjects were taken and distributed, and the volunteers were asked to rate each other’s restraint attractiveness.
People (both men and women) who ate carbohydrates had lower overall facial attractiveness scores.
Those who wrote on the survey that they usually eat high-carbohydrate breakfasts and snacks also had a significant impact on their ratings.
Researchers at the University of Montpellier say the next step is to further increase the sample size to better understand why food influences facial appearance.
“Facial attractiveness, an important component of social interaction, appears to be affected by immediate and chronic refined carbohydrate intake in men and women,” the authors said.
