Just 2 cans of soda per week is too much — even if you exercise: study

Scientists warn that consuming carbonated drinks can make your workouts worthless.

According to a new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, drinking just two 12-ounce cans of pop per week can effectively erase the heart-healthy gains made during exercise.

Pharmacists at Université Laval in Quebec City analyzed health data on nearly 100,000 adults over 30 years and found that the damage caused by sugary drinks can be overcome with the average recommended training quota of about 150 minutes each week. He announced that he had discovered something that could not be done.

They are calling on consumers to completely avoid sugar cane and syrup-based carbonated drinks.

“Physical activity reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease associated with sugary drinks by half, but does not completely eliminate it,” Professor Jean-Philippe Drouhin Chartier said in a statement, according to Southwest News Service. said.

The researchers went on to say, “The marketing strategies for these beverages often indicate that active people drink these beverages. This suggests that consumption has no negative health effects.”

The Canadian team noted that while two sodas every seven days would be considered a relatively small amount for many consumers, it still poses a significant health risk.

Lorena Pacheco, lead author of the research report, said: “Our findings can help people limit their intake of sugary drinks and encourage people to meet and maintain adequate physical activity levels. “This provides further support for public health recommendations and policies.”

Researchers found that artificially sweetened beverages do not have similar negative effects, based on their findings. Nevertheless, Drouhin-Chartier concluded that “the best drink option is water.”
