Two Florida children have been infected with measles after the state’s top health official defied federal guidance to stop an outbreak at an elementary school.

At Manatee Bay Elementary School, 33 out of 1,067 students have not received the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine, Broward County Schools’ Sullivan said. Citing privacy concerns, Sullivan declined to say whether the six students who contracted measles had been previously vaccinated.
