Why Cottage Cheese Won’t Align With Your Keto Lifestyle

by Universalwellnesssystems

Although rich in nutrients, cottage cheese is not the best option if you want to follow a keto diet. Thankfully, there are other options to help you stick to your meal plan. Cottage cheese is often considered a healthy alternative to cream cheese, but the sweet, creamy dairy product is actually perfect for a keto diet. With just 1 gram of carbs per ounce, cream cheese is the perfect spread on a low-carb Better Bagel with smoked salmon or avocado.

If you want to add cottage cheese to your salad, consider goat cheese instead. Just like creamy and tangy cottage cheese, it boasts high levels of protein and virtually zero carbohydrates. You can sprinkle it on a broccoli salad with strips of bacon and pecans, or use it to top spaghetti squash with sage and walnuts. Choose Parmesan instead of cottage cheese for pasta dishes like bakes and lasagna. Not only does it add nuttiness and flavor to your pasta, but it also blends beautifully into your pasta without adding any extra carbs. It doesn't have a huge amount of protein, but it's low in carbohydrates, making it a great option. Use it to make recipes with low-carb alternatives to pasta and noodles, such as eggplant, cauliflower, and mushrooms.
