On Wednesday afternoon, officers met with Brenda Rates in the lobby of the police station regarding a theft report. Letts was grocery shopping at the Walmart store at 3201 West Broadway Blvd. when a Samsung S23 cell phone was stolen from her shopping cart, she said. No suspects have been identified at this time.
Early Thursday morning, officers were dispatched to the Phillips 66 store at 216 West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a physical altercation. Officers arrived and everyone was separated. The suspect was initially contacted in the area and was uncooperative. After the initial contact, the suspect returned to the store. The suspect was highly intoxicated and began yelling and swearing at officers at the scene. Marshall Thomas Sims, 39, of Sedalia, was arrested for protective custody. Sims was transported to the Pettis County Jail and held for 12 hours.
On Wednesday night, officers conducted a traffic stop on vehicles with expired registrations. The stop was in the area of East 13th Street and South Ingram Avenue. During the investigation, it was determined that the passenger had a warrant out of Pettis County for an incident that occurred on the morning of September 19th in the 29000 block of McCormick Road. Jason William Harvey, 51, of Sedalia, was arrested on a warrant for felony second-degree domestic assault. Harvey was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was held pending posting of $50,000 cash or bond.
Sedalia Police observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, violating the speed limit, and conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle stopped in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and Winchester Drive. The driver was contacted and was found to have a failure to appear warrant out of Johnson County for the original charge of speeding (11-15 mph) in January 2023. It was also discovered that the driver had a suspended driver’s license. Parris Rebecca Wilson, 18, of Sedalia, was arrested for driving under suspension and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Wilson was held on a $250 cash-only bond on the warrant.
