As Thanksgiving approaches, there have been 74 more salmonella cases linked to raw turkey products, including one death, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
CHICAGO — Two health agencies are investigating after a salmonella outbreak at an Avondale taqueria left 10 people hospitalized.
As of Friday, the Chicago Department of Public Health and the Illinois Department of Public Health had identified 20 people infected with Salmonella, and 10 were hospitalized.
The source of the outbreak is a taqueria inside the Mexican grocery store Carniceria Guanajuato in the 3100 block of Northern California.
Carniceria Guanajuato voluntarily closed its taquerias on September 8th.
Health officials said if anyone made a purchase in the prepared food aisle (a taqueria or ready-to-eat food section of a grocery store) after Aug. 29, they may have been exposed to salmonella.
