A food recall is issued when there is a health and safety issue, such as an item containing an undeclared ingredient on its label. Sainsbury’s is the latest supermarket to recall a product because it can cause severe allergic reactions in some people if eaten.
Food company Unisnacks Europe Limited is recalling one of its products sold at its Sainsbury store in the UK.
Lotte Pepero Snowy Almond. It is being readjusted because it contains peanuts and sesame that are not listed on the label.
This means that this product can be a health hazard for those who are allergic to peanuts or sesame seeds.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) added, “This allergy warning has been updated to include the additional allergen sesame.”

The FSA always details the latest food recalls on its website, explaining to customers why a product is being recalled, what to do if they buy it, and what steps the company or supermarket is taking.
Lotte Pepero Snowy Almonds, a biscuit, is 32g per pack and has an expiration date of May 1, 2023 and May 2, 2023.
The product is a biscuit stick covered with chocolate and crushed almonds.
There are two versions, milk chocolate and white chocolate, but only the white “snowy” chocolate is affected.

The FSA said:
“The company also issued POS notifications to customers.
“This notice explains to customers why the product is being recalled and what they should do if they have purchased the product. Please see the attached notice.”
In a notice, Unisnacks Europe emphasized:
The company said, “If you have purchased the above Pepero Snowy Almonds and have an allergy, intolerance or sensitivity to peanuts or sesame seeds, do not eat them.
“Alternatively: Make sure you purchased Pepero Snowy Almond 32g before the applicable expiration date.
“To do this, take a picture of this notice or write down the expiration date for reference at home.
“Return the item to the store for a full refund (with or without receipt).”
The Financial Services Agency advises consumers, “If you have purchased the above product and are allergic to peanuts or sesame, please do not consume it.
“Instead, return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund. For more information, please contact Unisnacks Europe Limited on 0800 195 6438 or [email protected].”
The organization elaborated on the general food recall, stating: if the customer requests a return).
“We may have to withdraw or recall a food product if there is a risk to the consumer due to missing or incorrect allergy labeling, or if there is a risk of other food allergies. If so, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert.”
