Southwest Idaho medical group plans to stop seeing urgent-care patients at most clinics

Saltzer Health plans to stop offering walk-in emergency care at most hospitals. Clinics in Ada and Canyon Countiesciting the need to focus on primary care as the region’s population grows.

Salzer’s primary care clinics in East Boise, Caldwell, North Meridian, South Meridian and North Nampa will instead be limited to patients of Salzer’s primary care providers.

According to a news release, the locations will have extended hours during nights and weekends after emergency treatment ends on July 7. Salzer said there will be more same-day bookings.

Clinics in Boise, Caldwell and Meridian opened in 2020 and 2021 We provide both emergency care and family care.

At Meridian, Salzer will continue to operate the region’s only 24-hour emergency center, which replaces hospital emergency rooms. We will also continue to accept emergency patients. South Nampa Clinicsaid in the release.

Saltzer is one of the oldest and largest primary care groups in Idaho. It is now owned by Intermountain Health of Utah.

Sixty-seven people in Salzer’s emergency care practice will be affected, according to an Intermountain news release, but Salzer “is working to find new positions for many people within its expanded family physician clinic. ‘ said.

Along with the resource change, Salzer will also end ambulance transportation and physical therapy services, the news release said. Other health care providers in the region also offer these services, but patients aren’t using them enough to continue, according to the release.
