This Mom Lost 95 Pounds In A Year By Building Small Healthy Eating And Exercise Habits That Kept Her On Track

My name is Jessica Peck (@jessicaleighpeck), I am 32 years old. I live in Waconia, Minnesota and am a product manager. When I became a mother, I decided to rethink my lifestyle little by little. After following Weight Watchers for a while, I switched to calorie counting and started planning my meals. She also went from walking daily to attending Life Time fitness classes five days a week. Together, these changes helped me lose 95 pounds and reverse my pre-diabetes.

I struggled with being overweight most of my life. When I was in elementary school, I remember being afraid to run the mile and finishing last. In high school and college, I had friends and toxic relationships that reminded me of being overweight. I lost her 20 pounds and got it back after a few months. I remember crying when I had to pull out my wedding dress, which I wasn’t sure I could wear a month before the wedding. Judging that it was just a department, “I gave up.”

When I was in my 20s, I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. (My doctor recently measured my girlfriend’s A1C level and weight lossmy A1C levels have dropped and I am no longer pre-diabetic!)

When I became a mother, this fire inside me was lit and I knew I needed to do something to change my life and become the best version of myself. I didn’t want to grow up from I felt like I was trying to hold back the kids at her 29 and 270 pounds. I wanted to ride theme park rides, ride long distances on my bike, and enjoy life with my kids. Now I have a strong reason and am determined to make this work.

When I first started my weight loss journey, I joined and followed WW (formerly Weight Watchers) plan.

The point system is very easy to understand. More recently, I’ve moved on to calorie counting. We feel this gives us a little more flexibility.

I bought a food scale and started weighing food. By substituting ground turkey for pork and beef, I focused on high-protein, lean meats.

I snacked frequently and tried to stay full to avoid overeating. significantly cut alcohol and sweet drinks.i did a lot meal plan And tracked a lot of my food in advance. Rather than eliminating the foods I love, I try very hard to find balance and moderation.

Here is what I ate in one day.

  • breakfast: eggs, cottage cheese, fruit

  • lunch: tuna sandwich

  • snack: Fruit and pepper yogurt

  • dinner: Lean Meat Protein, Deep-fried French Fries, Salad

  • dessert: Healthy Choice Fudge Bar or Tazo Desert Delight Tea

When I first started losing weight, I mostly just walked.

I used to walk 3 miles almost every day with two kids in a double stroller. About six months into her weight loss journey, she joined her Life Time with her husband and started an indoor cycle class. I then transitioned to Life Time’s small group training classes (GTX and Alpha).These classes were a game changer for me and changed my focus from being rigid Cardio For a balanced strength and conditioning routine.

I never miss a 7am alpha class on weekdays (5 days a week) and try to do a variety of workouts in one day on weekends. Alpha combines CrossFit-style workouts with heavy Olympic-style lifts, alternating between conditioning days. As her 32-year-old adult, I ran his first mile without stopping to make that childhood dream come true.fell in love with weightlifting The Alpha community inspires me to lift more weight than I ever thought possible and push new PRs with every workout!

These three changes have made my weight loss journey a success.

  1. I changed my eating habits. I had a lot of eating habits that negatively impacted my weight. For example, eating ice cream every night before bed or mindlessly snacking while watching your favorite show. I made a list of these eating habits and came up with new ones to replace them.

  2. I planned ahead and ate out less. I used to eat out quite often. I went to work, bought coffee from his shop, a latte and a muffin, and ate a few slices of pizza at the work cafe. I would go home and have the occasional date night. I have cut back on eating out significantly and have planned and prepared meals for work. This has helped both my weight loss and my checking account.

  3. I got rid of the all-or-nothing mentality. I think the reason my weight loss hasn’t worked out so far is because I’ve always strived for perfection. This time, I planned something imperfect. I tracked my food in advance and planned roughly the number of days leading up to parties, celebrations, and even days when I wanted a good pizza.

I lost nearly 95 pounds, but it took me over a year.

People often ask me how I find my motivation, and the answer is simple. Not always motivated. Little habits become routines, no motivation needed. Small habits that are repeated continuously really add up!

I finally found weight loss success for certain events or when I stopped trying to get approval from others. , I actually lost weight and changed my life more than the numbers on the scale. I found a new me along the way and proved that I’m really stronger than I thought!
