LOS ANGELES, Nov. 10, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Launched nine years ago, neuroscience 20 (N20) educates global and Group of Twenty (G20) leaders on the costs of neurological, spinal, and mental illness. Due to their often chronic and life-threatening nature, neurological disorders have a significant impact on the global economy and contribute to the global burden of disease. G20 members representing the world’s most important economies are invited to come together to develop a plan to overcome this burden. N20 – an initiative of Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT) – is at the forefront of this global collaboration to comprehensively raise awareness about brain, spine, and mental disorders.
“We looked at the cost of neuropsychiatric and spinal diseases to the global economy, and it took us almost a year to compile the data. We found it costing us, we published these findings to the Alzheimer’s Journal,” said Dr. Vicky Yamamoto, co-author of the paper.th President of SBMT and Cancer Scientist at USC-Keck School of Medicine and USC-Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.
This year’s N20 Science and Policy Program includes speakers from Indonesia and other G20 countries, plus five keynote addresses. Ali Gufran Mukti, Robert Hariri, Vicky Yamamoto, Keith SanderWhen Jose Edgardo Valerio PascuaSummit covers Neurotech innovations in cell therapy/immunotherapy. nanomedicine/nano-neurosurgery; AI machine learning; diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive modeling; Neurotrauma; Cancer Moonshot Initiative. Epilepsy; radiosurgery; pain management; COVID-19 brain; rehabilitation; neurodegenerative diseases;
“We are truly honored to bring such a world-class scientific and global policy think tank to Indonesia. to include expanding the N20 and addressing the cost of neuropsychiatric disorders to the global economy.” Dr. Asra Al-FawziProfessor of Neurosurgery, Director of Neurovascular and Neuroendovascular Center, Airlangga University, N20 Indonesia Representative.
Brain initiatives in the United States, Europe, Middle East and Balkans (ME+), Latin America (LA), and Asia Pacific (AP) will also participate. In addition, the program will include a panel on Ukraine’s Global Medical Donor Summit as part of SBMT’s humanitarian mission.
“Through Neuroscience20, SBMT provides an open platform for international cooperation and partnership among the G20 countries, the world’s largest economies. Responding to the finding of resource scarcity in countries, current statistical analyzes of the costs of neurological disorders to the global economy suggest that investments in neurotechnology and innovation, or rapid treatment and diagnostics, may be needed to contain these costs. It strongly suggests a great need: During the current COVID-19 pandemic, the SBMT, through this Summit and our publications, is committed to improving the economic and health of the population, especially with respect to neuro/brain, spine, and psychiatric disorders. It is intended to showcase the importance of global cooperation to reduce the burden on human resources.” Dr. Babak KatebPresident of SBMT, President of the World Brain Mapping Foundation (WBMF), Director of the National Center for Nanobioelectronics, and Director of Brain Technology and Innovation (BTIP).
