Green Tea

Green tea is affectionately called a superfood and touted as one of the healthiest beverages. Green tea has many health benefits, including helping with weight loss and improving heart health and blood flow.




Kawah

Native to Kashmir, kahwa helps keep the body warm, just what it needs when the temperatures are too cold. Experts say it’s only in the form of green tea, but it also contains healthy natural ingredients like saffron, cardamom, ginger and cinnamon.

nilgiri tea

Its tea leaves are processed as black tea and have a very bold and sweet flavor. Rich in antioxidants, it helps improve cholesterol, aging and overall immunity.

assam tea

A strong flavored, zesty and brightly colored tea. Experts say this tea, grown in Assam, helps manage high blood pressure and diabetes.

Oolong Tea

Oolong tea, made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, helps maintain weight and reduce stress and anxiety.

lemongrass tea

A cup of lemongrass tea is very refreshing. This tea contains antioxidants that can help reduce cholesterol and improve blood pressure.

masala tea

Made with water and milk, this black tea is widely consumed in India. It is a popular tea both at home and at street vendors. Mixed with spices that just add to the flavor. Rich in antioxidants, it helps heal digestion and boost immunity.

Disadvantages of tea

Although tea has health benefits, it should not be consumed in excess. Tea has some drawbacks –

• Tannins, compounds found abundantly in tea, interfere with the body’s ability to absorb iron, leading to iron deficiency.
• Tea leaves contain caffeine, which can cause stress and anxiety if consumed in excess. Caffeine during menstruation is also not a good option.
• Drinking tea on an empty stomach can cause a sour taste and nausea.

Drinking tea twice a day is said to be good for your health. The best time to have tea is half an hour after breakfast. You can even make it part of your evening snack.
