Exercise trends come and go, and as health reporters and editors, my colleagues and I have seen them all. And every year, with every new fitness hack or flashy Instagram workout featured, little tips and tricks inevitably influence the way we approach our exercise sessions.

Team sports make it easy and fun to exercise

As a huge fitness geek who's always learning (and tweaking my workout routine), it was hard to pick just one highlight of this year. But the biggest change in my exercise schedule this year has helped me save time and accomplish more in the gym, and I've also started to see great progress.
