The American Heart Association advises: Men should consume no more than 9 teaspoons (36 grams or 150 calories) of added sugar per day, and women should consume no more than 6 teaspoons (25 grams or 100 calories) per day.

The organization notes that adults consume an average of 17 teaspoons of added sugar per day.

“I usually eat my cereal with Greek yogurt and berries,” Sharp added. “So the extra fat, protein, and fiber help buffer the small amounts of simple sugars. But if you stick with cereals that are a little lower in carbohydrates, you'll feel great and have better sustained energy.” I know that.”
